Get set for the Games - Ride for Free
Cycle hire is the best way to get around during the Commonwealth Games. Whether you’re attending events or travelling around the region as normal we’ll be here to make getting from a-to-b as easy as possible.
What we’re doing:
- Each day during the Games you can take two free 30-minute cycle hire rides.
- There will be pop-up virtual docking stations at the following major venues:
- Alexander Stadium
- Arena Birmingham
- Coventry Arena and Stadium
- Edgbaston Stadium (dock in Cannon Hill Park)
- Sandwell Aquatics Centre
Pop-up virtual stations are signposted and branded areas where riders can hire and park bikes. Although not a physical docking station, they operate in the same way with riders using their app to unlock a bike and ending a journey by pressing down the yellow lock near the front tyre.
- We will have support staff around popular visitor locations in Birmingham, Coventry and Wolverhampton to help riders hiring or locking bikes for the first time
How to get involved:
If you’re new to cycle hire simply download the Cycle Hire app and create an account.
For existing customers, the first two rides that you take each day during the offer period will be free (for up to 30-minutes). The offer is applied automatically to your account, you don’t need to do anything.
Terms and Conditions:
To qualify for the 2 x free 30-minute rides per day (00:00 – 23:59) simply download and register on the Cycle Hire app. The offers runs from 00:01 Wednesday 27 July – 23:59 Monday 8 August. If you ride for over 30 minutes you will be charged at the normal rate for the remainder of your journey. If you ride for less than 30-minutes the unused minutes will be lost. All journeys must end at a docking station. A £5 ‘Out of dock’ charge will incur if you end a ride outside of a docking station. A £10 ‘Out of Zone’ charge will incur if you end your ride outside the boundary area outlined on the Beryl app. All standard cycle hire terms and conditions apply, please see the app for full details.
