Arboretum

Within half a mile of Walsall town centre you can find 170 acres of beautiful parkland at Walsall Arboretum. It’s easy to forget you’re so close to town when you wander around the lake, beautiful lawns, bandstand and there’s even a large children’s play area. By bike you can tour the park in full, just pick up a bike from the Broadway entrance. What better way to connect with nature and raise your heart rate at the same time?

A short stretch from Park Street you’ll find this friendly museum which offers a fascinating insight into the story of Walsall’s famous leatherworking trade. Admission is free and they offer regular guided tours and demonstrations of leather crafts, as well as a varied programme of events and activities throughout the year. There’s also a great shop on site offering Walsall-made leather goods if you need to pick up any gifts on your travels. Need a break – there’s a café for refreshments and a picnic area in the gardens!

Walsall gala swimming and fitness centre

Take part in your own triathlon by cycling to the Walsall Council docking station to visit the nearby Walsall Gala Swimming and Fitness centre! Here you’ll find a competition style pool with 3 heights of diving board and the only brine pool in the region! Brine pools offer warm, salty waters which are known for their relaxing and therapeutic qualities which will prime you ready to cycle home!  

University

The University of Wolverhampton has a campus off the Broadway in Walsall, so whether you’re a student needing to get to lectures, or maybe you’re attending an event or show at the university’s on-campus Performance Hub or Sports Centre the dock outside the reception is perfectly placed.
